Show Support for Renewable Energy with SAAFER decals! 100% of Profits Fund Alternative Energy Projects

SAAFER is a 501(c)(3) public charity, dedicated to funding progressive individual researchers and inventors focused on sustainable alternative energy solutions and products for our future.   We believe American Ingenuity has answers!

Because most foundations and government agencies award funding to universities and institutions, it is increasingly difficult for the individual researcher to recieve financial assistance.  Often, research is not completed or financially struggling individuals surrender rights to their research and aspirations if funded by other organizations.

Your contributions to SAAFER will help these amazing pioneers succeed in turning research into realities, products, and sustainable energy solutions.

Througout history, our lives have been impacted by independent researchers and inventors.

 Here's a few notable mentions:

1833 Sewing Machine - Walter Hunt invents the the first lock-stitch sewing machine, but does not patent his invention. Later, Elias Howe secures a patent on that machine, but fails to manufacture and sell it.  Still later, Isaac Singer infringes on Howe's patent to make his own machine, which makes Singer rich.  Hunter also invented the safety pin which he sold outright for $400.

1873 Typewriter - Inspired by a Scientific American article featuring a British attempt at a similar machine, Christopher Latham invents his own.  Among the first works produced by the typewriter is Mark Twain's Adventures of Tom Sawyer.

1879 Incandescent Light Bulb - Backed by $30,000 for research, Thomas Edison perfects the light bulb.  In 1881, the New York printing firm Hinds and Ketchum installs commercially.

1889 Dishwasher - After ten years of work and numerous prototypes, Mrs. WA Cockran eases kitchen labor everywhere by producing a practical dishwashing machine.

1926 Rocket - Robert H. Goddard makes his first successful launch of a liquid fueled rocket at his Aunt Effie's farm.  The rocket reaches 41 ft.

1927 Television - Philio Farnsworth demonstrates the first television for potential investors by broadcasting the image of a dollar sign.  Farnsworth receives backing and applies for a patent, byt ongoing patent battles with RCA prevent Farnsworth from earning his share of the million dollar industry his invention creates.

1929 Frozen Foods - Clarence Birdseye offers his quick frozen foods to the public.  He got his idea after seeing natives preserve foods with freezing while on an expedition in Labrador.

1957 Polio Vaccine - Dr. Albert Sabin develops a polio vaccine.  His invention will put an end to the polio epidemics that have crippled thousands of children worldwide.

1975 Microsoft - Old High school friends Bill Gates and Paul Allen form a partnership known as Microsoft to write computer software.  They sell their first software to Ed Roberts at MIT, which has produced the Altair 8800, the first micro-processed based computer.  Gates soon drops out of Harvard.
