SAAFER was founded with the belief that achieving US energy independence, decreasing fossil fuel consumption, and reducing air pollution are some of the greatest challenges of the 21st century.  Damon Vance and Kay Vance, a mother & son, began SAAFER in hopes of accelerating the pace of alternative energy research and increasing the amount of affordable products available to the public.

SAAFER executives and board members (John Elliott, Joshua Hendrick, and Terri Wallace) want the public to actively participate in a challenging energy shift by showing support and funding diversified and progressive segments of alternative energy research.  SAAFER believes individuals, scientists, businesses, and government must work together for the U.S. to succeed in becoming an energy independent and sustainable society

Our Mission

SAAFER is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to the advancement of alternative fuel and energy research and products. Through charitable contributions and decal/magnet purchases, SAAFER awards annual research grants to individuals devoting their efforts to reducing our dependence on fossil fuel energy sources. We share a passion and commitment to helping scientists achieve their goals, expand alternative energy knowledge, and develop products for the public.

Throughout our site, you will find both problems and solutions. SAAFER’s genesis and ongoing goals are not to frighten people through a bombardment of apocalyptic data, but more to instill hope and promise of recourse with an array of contributing solutions and ongoing knowledge.
